This created a holographic simulation in which a holographic representation of Barclay tried to convince the EMH that he was actually a real flesh-and-blood human being, who was trapped in a holographic simulation, and that he would die if he didn't destroy the simulation. He transferred to the security department later that year. Baxter was working out in the ship's gym, when Voyager discovered a spatial distortion ring being. This encounter caused several ship systems to malfunction including the environmental systems in the gym. Baxter informed Ensign Kim about this malfunction and then reported to his duty station. The distortion ring being changed the layout of Voyager so when he tried to get to the cargo bay, he wound up in the transporter room or the mess hall. VOY Twisted. When the Voyager encountered the 37's planet in late 2371, Janeway thought that Baxter would leave Voyager and stay on the planet because he was adventurous and a risk taker. Contrary to Janeway's assumption he chose to remain aboard Voyager. VOY The 37's.
